With the advent of the global economic recession of 2008, the traditional economy for print media almost vanished over night. Newspapers across the spectrum had to re-invent their business model online at a time when budget cutbacks reduced their editorial muscle power in a sheer struggle of survival. In many cases the result was a diluted version of the print edition at the cost of quality and impact on the public discourse.

The logic behind CWDF therefore is to strengthen the online platform by getting the best of the best in online journalism to present their work during the festival., to debate the platform and learn from each others experience.

Henrik and Eva are no longer active on this project. For now, we will leave it here to inspire - maybe someone is interested in taking over and carrying on the torch.
